Bolivia: a country in ferment Dave Esterson

Paul Mason reads from Live working or die fighting How the Working Class Went Global.

The State of the British Working Class “Pale, male and stale” is one take on the state of the labour movement.

What is the future for the left?

Dave visited Bolivia last year and explains how the election of Evo Morales raised expectations of rapid change. These hopes have not been met and the workers are busy organising a new party.

Paul draws the parallels between early labour struggles and the rise of a new workforce in India, China, Africa and Latin America today. He will also sign copies of his book.

What do our trade unions really look like after the defeats of the 1980s? How do we make them “fit for purpose” again?

Panel: Chair Mark Hoskisson, Secretary Liverpool TUC, Pete Firmin, CWU postal worker, Kate Ford, Hackney NUT, Lee Rock PCS Sheffield, Anita Ceravolo T&G/Unite, organiser for Justice for Cleaners.
