Resistance against Nazis in Prague
For November 10, an organization with the name Mladí Národní Demokraté (Young National Democrats) called for a demonstration against the presence of Czech troops in Iraq, right through the Jewish Quarter of Prague. The Prague magistrate had banned the demonstration because its official motto was a false front and its purpose was to "incite racial hatred"....write international Revolution from Prague...Fri 16, March 2007 @ 17:54
France: The FN: twists and turns of a fascist front - 1995
The French Front National (FN) was founded in 1972 as a coalition of fascist tendencies. It grouped together Vichy collaborators, young thugs and a handful of non-party fascists, like Jean-Marie Le Pen, who had played minor roles in the post-war history of the French far-right. By 1980 the FN had only 270 members, of whom scarcely 100 were fully paid-up.1Wed 28, February 2007 @ 18:59
ASLEF have the right to expel BNPer
The trade union ASLEF have won an appeal at the European Court granting them the right to expel the BNP member and candidate, Mr Lee, "The Court noted that, just as an employee or worker should be free to join, or not join, a trade union without being sanctioned or subject to disincentives, so should the trade union be equally free to choose its members."...Sat 25, November 2006 @ 21:07

BNP squad attack anti-fascist leafleters in Morley, nr Leeds, 4/11/06
On 4th November, just days after Nick Griffin got off serious charges in Leeds Crown Court on a 'freedom of speech' defence, his supporters attacked leafleters exercising their freedom of speech. This is another example of why Permanent Revolution says NO platform whatsoever for any fascist to speak: wherever they are permitted to organise, free speech is in peril. The UAF statement is reproduced below.Fri 10, November 2006 @ 18:18
Griffin and Collett - BNP Nazis cleared
BNP leader Nick Griffin and party activist Mark Collett have been cleared of inciting racial hatred after a retrial at Leeds Crown Court. The results of the BNP trial confirms the idiocy of relying on the state to deal with fascism. This court case has been absolutely the best thing that could happen to the BNP. It's given them publicity money just can't buy, writes JP.Wed 08, November 2006 @ 13:08
Statement against violent attack on anti fascists leafleting in Morley by BNP supporters
Press Release From UAF 07/11/06
Groups of anti-racist and anti-fascists including members of the clergy, trade unionists and local citizens were attacked on Saturday 4th November by organised groups of BNP supporters. The anti-fascists were delivering leaflets warning people of the dangers of the BNP. The leaflets alerted other people in the community of Morley of the true fascist nature of the BNP. In May 2006 a BNP member was elected as a councillor in Morley with only 12.85% of the vote. The overwhelming majority chose not to vote for them.

BNP - convicted of explosives hoard
In the light of the hysterical media campaign against Muslims accused of "terrorist" activity, it is interesting to contrast the almost complete media silence in this case.
Robert Cottage, former BNP candidate for the Vivary Bridge Ward, Pendle Council in the May local elections this year, has been charged with suspicion of possessing chemical substances under the Explosives Substances Act 1883. Another man David Bolus Jackson was charged with similar offences and it has been reported that police discovered a rocket launcher, a nuclear biological suit, chemicals and BNP literature at his home. Both are due to appear in Burnley Crown Court in 23 October.

The MSI: The cudgel and the double breasted suit
Italy is the only western European state in which a fascist party has joined a government since 1945.1 The entry of the Movimento Sociale Italiano (MSI) into the coalition government of Silvio Berlusconi prompted alarm amongst the left in Italy and around the world. It also provoked some revealing reactions from the bosses’ press. The Economist reassured its readers:Tue 03, October 2006 @ 18:49
Fascism: yesterday and today...
The rise of fascist front parties across Europe is a symptom of a deepening social crisis. How do these parties relate to “classic” pre-war fascism? How do they differ from established conservative parties? Clare Heath argues that the right answer to these questions is crucial to smashing the renewed threat of fascism.Sat 16, September 2006 @ 00:07
Manchester sends Le Pen packing
In April militant antifascists in Manchester showed how the BNP and its allies should be dealt with. They bombarded the car of Front National (FN) leader Jean-Marie Le Pen as he tried desperately to get away from his hotel, with police and Nazi honour-guard Combat 18 desperately working together to protect him.Mon 28, August 2006 @ 13:26
Fighting the rise of the far right in Europe
Trotskyist International No. 08, April-July 1992
In April the racist Republikaner Party stunned Germany by attracting 11% of the vote in a state election. Here Mark Harrison looks critically at the left’s response to the challenge posed by the growth of far right and fascist parties throughout Europe.
